Introduction to Robotics - Advanced Level

The aim of this course is to provide the learner with knowledge of how to operate and program an industrial robot. Learners will perform commissioning procedures and create, modify and execute their own robot control programs.

Description

Learner Profile:

Learners should have completed the Intermediate 3-day Robotics or have proven experience with robotics operation, as this course builds on what was previously taught in the KUKA Intermediate 3-day Robotics course.

Learner prerequisites:

Learners should have basic PC literacy.

Learning outcomes:

At the end of the course the learners will be able to:

  • Ability to operate a robot cell in a manner compliant with robot safety regulations.
  • Carry out the commissioning procedures mastering, and tool/base calibration.
  • Create robot programs with movements and logic functions.
  • Declare and use variables, loops and subprograms in KRL.
  • Create simple palletizing and depalletizing routines

Course Content:

  • Structure and function of a KUKA robot system
  • Moving a robot manually, axes and cartesian jogging
  • Commissioning procedures-Robot Mastering, Tool Calibration and Base Calibration
  • Executing robot control programs
  • Working with program files - creating and modifying programmed motions
  • Using logic functions in a robot program
  • Using technology packages for gripper operations and pick place applications.
  • Variables and declarations and working with simple data types.
  • Successful programming in KRL (KUKA Robot Language)
  • Using program execution control functions – input and output signal, local and global variables, conditional checks, loops and sub program call in KRL.
