The course is an introduction to HyperMILL. The course provides programming skills for 2.5D and 3D machining. Advanced and comprehensive step by step course to gain advanced skills to program 2.5D and 3D parts.

Description

Learner Profile:

Operators and setters looking to acquire new and upgrade existing skills, and those with knowledge and experience of the machining process looking to upskill to CNC Programming.

Learner prerequisites:

  • A general understanding of CNC machining.
  • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems e.g. creating file folders, copy and paste etc.
  • Knowledge of 2.5D and 3D modelling is an advantage but not essential.

Candidates should at minimum have completed the Junior Cert with pass grades in at least five ordinary level subjects (including Maths and English).  

    Course Content :

    • HyperMILL® interface and personal settings
    • 2.5D and 3D CAD creation & dimensioning
    • Using the project assistant for setting the datum, stock and fixtures
    • Creating tools and using the tool library
    • 2.5D face milling, contouring & pocketing
    • Drilling, tapping & boring 
    • Feature recognition
    • Drilling macros
    • Introduction to 3D roughing and finishing strategies, remaining stock machining
    • High performance toolpaths
    • 3+2 axis machining
    • Verifying your toolpath with machine simulation
    • Generating your NC Code
