Description

Course Aim:

The course covers more advanced aspects of GD&T and its application and interpretation.
The course is based on the American ASME Y14.5 standard, and the supporting ‘math’ standard ASME Y14.5.1 (a version is also available based on the British BS 8888 standard and the ISO standards which it references). The course is applicable to users of the 1994, 2009 and 2018 revisions of ASME Y14.5. Delegates are provided with comprehensive course notes, and a workbook with questions and exercises to accompany the training material.

Learner Profile:

Designers, Engineers, Inspectors, Technicians and Engineering Management.

Completion of the Level 1 course is a prerequisite for anyone wishing to attend the Level 2 course.

What you will get:

Participants will learn about:

· Drafting conventions for common features such as slots
· Repeated details and repeated datums
· Use of the ‘continuous feature’ modifier
· ‘All-Around’, ‘All-Over’, ‘Between’, ‘From-to’ indicators
· Unequal and bilateral tolerance zones
· Defining ‘Freestate’ and ‘restrained’ conditions for non-rigid parts
· Datums and ‘situation features’
· Datums based on groups of features
· Datums based on extruded profiles and complex surfaces
· Translation modifier and controlling individual degrees of freedom
· Maximum Material Condition modifier applied to datum references
· Least Material Condition modifier
· Simultaneous and Separate requirements
· Projected tolerance zones
