5 Day Advanced Robotic Welding (KUKA)

The participants in this course will perform a variety of welding operations with a KUKA robot. They will also develop the understanding of the key principles of Robotic Welding and how to operate a Robotic Welding station through a HMI.

Description

Learner Profile:

Learners should have completed the AMTCE Intermediate Robotics (KUKA) course or have previous experience in Robotics which will be vetted by KUKA instructor prior to enrolment on this course. The AMTCE Employer Engagement Team will coordinate this process.

Learner prerequisites:

Learners should have basic PC literacy.

Learning outcomes:

At the end of the course the learner will be able to:

  • Perform a variety of welding operations with a KUKA robot.
  • Understand the key principles of robotic welding.
  • Operate a Robotic Welding station through an HMI.


    Course Content

    • Safety when working with an industrial robot.
    • Basic knowledge of the structure of a robot system
    • Moving the robot manually, axes and cartesian jogging.
    • Starting and executing robot programs manually and in automatic mode.
    • Human-machine communication, robot states (I/O signals, timers, cyclical flags, counters).
    • Reading and interpreting robot controller messages
    • Introduction to robotic welding and overview of the applications and industries where robotic welding is used.
    • Robot Control with ArcTech application software – introduce technology package needed to plan, configure and carry out welding tasks.
    • Configuring the weld parameters via the robot and weld source interfaces.
    • Generate the program structure of a welding routine and learn about robot position while welding – setting angle of attack and working angle.
    • Execute a series of different weld – linear and circular fillet welds, butt welds, lap joints, etc.
    • Learn about the different weave patterns that can be utilised when welding.
